Did my mom get bit by a snake?

My mom was outside yesterday pulling weeds and she said somethig had stung her!! We have a very large garden and there are black garden snakes and copper heads but we said that we could cross copper head off the list or she would be dead. When we looked at her hand there where two sting sites but she said it only stung her once. Her hand hurts on the joint of her middle finger where she got "stung" so if you have any idea what this might be i would REALLY appreciate it!!!
