If you mean the Civil Rights Movement, the KKK caused people to become more aligned or sympathetic with improving the lot of Blacks. The reason is that as people became more and more aware of the criminal/inhumane acts perpetrated against Blacks with the KKK in the forefront, they became awakened to the true suffering of this oppressed minority.
